Twinned with Faches Thumesnil since 21 February 1993, Naoussa is in the province of Macedonia (Greece) 90km west from Saloniki.
The town lies in the moutains of Vermion. Its origin goes to antiquity as shown by the presence of Macedonian graves and the remains of the ancient school of Aristote.
The town was liberated in 1912, after a long Ottoman occupation. Today il is renowned for wine, fruit and textile. Naoussa, which has 23,000 inhabitants, is twinned with Asenovgrad (Bulgaria), Naoussa (Paros island, Greece), Podgonica (Montenegro) and Zgorzelec (Poland).
